Xtreme Muzik Presented the President’s Choice Award!

The beginning of a new year always carries with it major reflection on the year prior, and also happens to usher in awards season! Yesterday, Strictly Country announced the winners of the 17th Annual Spirit Awards, which included honors for such prolific performers as The Zach Brown Band, Vince Gill, Tim McGraw, Alison Krauss and Merle Haggard.

But the biggest surprise came when the President at Strictly Country named The Xtreme Muzik Tour with Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson and Cowboy Troy as winners of the President’s Choice Award.

“The Xtreme Muzik Tour blew us out of the water,” stated President of Strictly Country Gina Kay Singerhouse. “It’s ingenious how they designed that tour so that each entertainer was on stage at all times. It made for an incredible performance, one that will forever be embedded in the minds of those who witnessed it.”

Everyone at the Love Everybody camp is so grateful for this honor, but we know that it’s YOU that made The Xtreme Muzik Tour the wildest show of 2011. Here’s looking at 2012!

Taste of Country Reviews Big & Rich’s “Blue Christmas”

Elvis done Big & Rich style is a hit! Check out this review from our friend Billy Dukes at Taste of Country:

Big and Rich‘s version of Elvis Presley’s ‘Blue Christmas’ sounds exactly like one would expect it to sound. There’s a light church organ, followed by noisy guitars and chest-thumping harmonies from John Richand Kenny Alphin. It’s amazing that the duo can wrap their brand around even the most reverent sound.

“I’ll have a blue Christmas without you / I’ll be so blue just thinking about you / Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree / Won’t be the same, dear, if you’re not here with me,” they sing. While this song once begged for a love to stay or return, Big and Rich demand it.

“And when the blue snowflakes start falling / That’s when those blue memories start calling / You’ll be doing all right with your Christmas of white / But I’ll have a blue Christmas,” they add in verse two.

There are a number of Big-and-Richisms weaved into the country-rock formula, and it could be argued that this song is a disgrace to a holiday favorite. Or the pair should be applauded for taking their big, gaudy brush strokes to a song in need of some freshening up.

Thoughts on ‘Merry Christmas’ from Ben Stein

What a guy! Check out these words from our great friend Ben Stein…

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.

My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees… I don’t feel threatened.. I don’t feel discriminated against.. That’s what they are, Christmas trees.

It doesn’t bother me a bit when people say, ‘Merry Christmas’ to me. I don’t think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn’t bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house inMalibu . If people want a creche, it’s just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don’t like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don’t think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can’t find it in the Constitution and I don’t like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren’t allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that’s a sign that I’m getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it’s not funny, it’s intended to get you thinking.

In light of recent events… terrorists attack, school shootings, etc.. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O’Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn’t want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn’t spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock’s son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he’s talking about.. And we said okay..

Now we’re asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don’t know right from wrong, and why it doesn’t bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with ‘WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.’

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world’s going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send ‘jokes’ through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you’re not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit.

If not, then just discard it… no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don’t sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

Big & Rich Play Christmas Tunes for Deadwood GAC Special

Christmas arrived early for Deadwood this year, with the town lit up in full force last week as Great American Country (GAC) film crews arrived to tape an hour-long special to run on the network in December.

‘Christmas in the Black Hills’ will showcase Deadwood, South Dakota in all of its natural beauty, cut with exclusive performances from Big & Rich, Thompson Square, Bradley Gaskin, Andy Gibson, and the new trio The Farm featuring Damien Horne. In addition to these performances, the special will feature scenes from A Grand Christmas, a broadway-style Christmas review hosted during the month of December at the Deadwood Mountain Grand.

Big & Rich Set to Headline the 2012 Country Thunder Festival

Arizona’s legendary Country Thunder music festival, held annually at the Canyon Moon Ranch in Florence, is getting revved up! Big & Rich have signed on to headline Friday night, with Blake Shelton and Dierks Bentley rounding out the rest of the festival to be held April 12 – 15th, 2012.

Early bird tickets for the Country Thunder event are available now in limited quantities from their website.

Watch Big & Rich’s hit “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” take on new life as the Dartmouth Aires performed it acapella on yesterday’s The Sing Off. The Dartmouth Aires are a timeless staple of–you guessed it–the prestigious Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, and have been around in some form for the greater part of seventy years. I’d say they did a pretty good job, but “Save a Horse” ain’t nothing without some Cowboy Troy and Two-Foot-Fred in the mix!

Big & Rich Perform Special Concert for Our Troops

As part of the Tour for the Troops, Big Kenny and John Rich joined forces Saturday night to celebrate the sacrifices and bravery of our men and women in service. Held at Fort Jackson in South Carolina, Eric Paslay opened the stage for the concert that was free to all DoD identification card holders and their guests.

Big Kenny was gracious to the Air Force Reserce, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation and Carrabba’s Italian Grill for providing support that evening. It is the smallest token of appreciation they can show for these fearless men and women to whom we owe our lives, and Big & Rich are overjoyed to have the opportunity to entertain.
